TOUCH BAR

Freelance-tanssitaiteilija Anna-Maria Väisänen on tutkinut työssään erilaisia tapoja koskettaa viimeisen kahdeksan vuoden ajan, fyysinen kosketus ihmisten välillä on ollut osa hänen praktiikkaansa koronaviruspandemiaan saakka.

TOUCH BAR on kokeellinen sarja kahdenkeskisiä kohtaamisia, joissa tutkitaan kosketusta ilman fyysistä kontaktia. Kosketuksen välineinä käytetään erilaisia artefakteja, joita Väisänen tutkii syksyn 2021 aikana. Kokija / osallistuja määrittää taiteilijan kanssa omat rajansa kohtaamiselle. TOUCH BAR on tila jossa pysähdytään kuuntelemaan, herkistämään aisteja, luomaan yhteistä rituaalia, tutkimaan kosketusta, katsomaan ja katsomisen kautta löytämään mahdollisuutta koskettaa tai tulla kosketetuksi. Jaettu tila muovautuu kunkin kokijan kanssa, kahdenkeskiseen kohtaamiseen otetaan yksi osallistuja kerrallaan.

TOUCH BAR on konsepti ja tila joka tutkii pehmeyttä, laskeutumista ja dialogia ihmisten ja esineiden välillä Galleria Ars Liberassa 27.10.–5.11.2021.

TOUCH ME

Taiteilijat Anna-Maria Väisänen ja Emma Fält jatkavat dialogista työskentelyään kohtaamisen, kosketuksen, piirretyn viivan, koreografian, komposition, paikka- ja tilannesidonnaisen taiteen rajoilla. Työskentelyn keskiössä on jaetun intiimin hetken tutkiminen ilman puhetta. Väisänen ja Fält tutkivat yhdessä erilaisista kosketuksista muodostuvaa äänimaailmaa Galleria Ars Liberan residenssissä 8.–13.11.2021.

Fält ja Väisänen työstävät parhaillaan laajempaa, pitkäkestoista livetaiteen projektia, joka tutkii unelmien ja utopioiden kartoittamista sekä tutkii unelmointia ja mielikuvitusta. Taiteilijat avaavat työskentelyään yleisölle Galleria Ars Liberassa 12.–13.11.2021.

TOUCH BAR

Freelance dance artist Anna-Maria Väisänen has studied different ways of touching in her work for the past eight years, physical contact between people has been part of her practice until the coronavirus pandemic.

TOUCH BAR is a concept and space that explores softness, descent, and human dialogue between people and objects. TOUCH BAR is an experimental series of one-on-one encounters that explore touch without physical contact. Various artifacts are used as instruments of touch, which Väisänen will study during the residency.

The experiencer / participant sets their own boundaries for the encounter with the artist. TOUCH BAR is a space where you stop to listen, sensitise the senses, create a common ritual, explore touch, look and – through looking – find an opportunity to touch or become touched. The shared space takes shape with each experiencer, one participant at a time is taken into a two-way encounter.

TOUCH BAR is a concept and a space that explores softness, descent and dialogue between people and objects at Galleria Ars Libera from the 27th of October until the 5th of November 2021.

TOUCH ME

Anna-Maria Väisänen and multidisciplinary artist Emma Fält continue working in dialogue on the interfaces of meeting, touch, drawing, choreography, composition and site-specific art. Central to the work is the exploration of shared intimacy without speech. They will be working together in the residency of Galleria Ars Libera from the 8th until the 13th of November.

Väisänen and Fält are currently working on an extensive live art project that is mapping utopias and investigating the power of dreaming and imagination.

Väisänen and Fält will share their work with the audience on the 12th and 13th of November at Galleria Ars Libera.

“Olen hyödyntänyt töissäni kierrätysmateriaaleja. Olen purkanut ja jatkanut vanhoja töitäni. Uusia töitä olen työstänyt puhkomalla ja kasaamalla niitä joutomateriaaleista. Olen jatkanut teoksia maalaamalla ja ne käyvät tällä hetkellä vuoropuhelua veistämisen ja maalaamisen rajapinnalla.”

BIO: Reijo Kärkkäinen (s. 1964) on kuvataiteilija, joka valmistui taiteen kandidaatiksi Taideteollisesta korkeakoulusta. Kuvataiteilijana Kärkkäinen on moniottelija, jonka tuotantoon mahtuu maalauksia, grafiikkaa, installaatioita, valokuvia, sarjakuvaa ja kuvituksia. Lisäksi hän toimii mukana kansainvälisessä taiteilijaryhmässä Le Dernier Cri:ssä sekä Kutikuti-yhdistyksessä. Hän asuu ja työskentelee Kuopiossa.

“In my works, I am utilising recycled materials. I have dismantled and continued my old works. New works have come about by methods such as puncturing and assembling them from waste materials. I have painted on these works, so they represent a kind of conversation between sculpture and painting.

BIO: Reijo Kärkkäinen (b. 1964) is a Finnish artist who graduated as Bachelor of Arts from the University of Art and Design in Helsinki. Kärkkäinen is a multidisciplinary visual artist, whose work ranges from paintings, graphics, installations, photographs to comics and illustrations. He also works with the French arthouse Le Dernier Cri as well as with the Kutikuti association. He lives and works in Kuopio.

Johanna Rossi: Värivirta

Värivirran keskiössä on Rossin koko taiteellisen praktiikan ajan vallinnut viehtymys väreihin ja märkää märälle -maalaukseen. Näyttelyssä esillä olevien teosten väripigmentit ovat Rossin itse kasveista erottamia ja useat värit tyttärensä jauhamia. ”Olen valmistanut värejä kesäisin Kuopion kotikeittiön lisäksi Kaustisten Pauanteella, Mäntän Serlachius-residenssissä, Vilppulan Katajamäen kulttuurisessa ekoyhteisössä savusaunalla ja tiipiinuotiolla sekä Savon metsissä ja rannoilla risukeittimellä.”

Pigmenttien vaellus, liike sekä vääjäämätön järjestäytyminen veden haihtuessa kiehtovat häntä. ”Omassa kosmologiassani tuntuu, kuin tarkkailisin jotain suurta, inhimillistä Maan tapahtumaa korkealta ilmasta käsin. Tämä on näkökulma, josta minulla on tarve tarkastella kaoottista maailmaa.”

Väripigmentin erottaminen kasveista on aikaa vievä ja monivaiheinen prosessi, jossa väriä irtoaa vain vähän. Värivirta-näyttelyssä nähtävät itse tehdyt kasvipigmentit ovat aikaa, paikkoja ja merkityksiä täynnä, taideteoksia itsessään. Pigmentit ovat Rossin itse tekemisen hengessä jääneet karkeiksi, mutta juuri siksi niiden liike näkyy hyvin paperilla. Kärpänen-mediateoksessa märällä paperilla liikkuvat veriseitikin, pietaryrtin, mäkikuisman, kantokäävän, tuomen ja jäkälän pigmentit.

Väriprosessista jää ylijäämäliemiä, joiden päälle syntyneet homeet Rossi on siirtänyt joidenkin maalausten pinnalle. Home on jatkanut hetken elämäänsä, kunnes vähitellen kuivunut, kuollut ja asettunut muotoonsa.

Taiteilija valmistaa vesiväriä perjantaina 3.9. klo 17–20. Yleisö on tervetullut seuraamaan prosessia. Taustamusiikkia soittelee DJ Senqi.

Värivirta / Colour Flow exhibition is all about the fascination Rossi has had with colours and wet on wet painting throughout her artistic practice. The lake pigments exhibited in the exhibition have been crafted by Rossi herself and many of them have been ground by her own daughter. ”I have made lake pigments during summers in my home kitchen in Kuopio, Kaustinen, Serlachius art residency in Mänttä, in the smoke sauna and on the tipi fire in Katajamäki root-cultural eco community in Vilppula, in the forests and by lake shores in Northern Savo.”

Rossi is fascinated by the migration, movement and, as water evaporates from the surface of the wet paper, the inevitable drying formation of the pigment particles. ”In my cosmology, it feels as though I am observing some great, human Earth event from high up in the air. This is a point of view from which I feel a need to observe the chaotic world events from time to time.”

Extracting lake pigment from plant or fungus is a time consuming and complex process, and you get only a very small amount of ready pigment. The lake pigments in the Colour Flow exhibiton are full of meanings, art works in themselves. In the DIY -spirit of things, the particles are quite rough, but this is why their movement is so clearly visible on the paper surface. In the video installation ”Fly”, Rossi is moving pigments made from bloody redcap, tansy, St. John’s Wort, orange sponge polyphore, European bird cherry and reindeer lichen.

Some of the molds that have grow in the leftover colour liquids of the lake pigment process, Rossi has transferred on the surface of some of her paintings. The mold has kept living and growing, until slowly dying and drying in a formation.

Rossi will be making lake pigment on Friday, September 3^rd, from 5 to 8 pm. Audience is welcome to follow the process. DJ Senqi will be playing some background music.
