\n\u201dThe second part of Esperia navigates the maze of Eugenya\u2019s distant history and more recent past, through the cities of Nazi-occupied Lwow, post-war Marseille and present-day Tel Aviv. Maneuvering memory and oblivion, the secrets Eugenya may have left behind and Jacques\u2019 reluctance to thread through them, both Jacques and Eugenya\u2019s willingness to recall comes into question.
\nEsperia is a four part video series and a work in progress. Through his memories of past in present conversations with his granddaughter, the four parts of Esperia will form the portrait of Jacques Motola – an artist and somewhat a man of mystery. The four stories explore how memory, the wider historical perspective and personal identity are converged and become intertwined. Jacques has spent his life between North-Africa, Palestine\/Israel and France. Each of the four parts of Esperia will revolve around memories of a different city in a life that is nowadays confined into an apartment in the suburbs of Tel Aviv, bound by daily routine.\u201d (Haidi Motola, 2019)

\nHaidi Motola (1982, Haifa) on kuvataiteilija, joka ty\u00f6skentelee p\u00e4\u00e4asiassa valokuvauksen ja videon parissa. H\u00e4nen ty\u00f6ns\u00e4 keskittyy erilaisiin yhteiskuntapoliittisiin kysymyksiin ja dokumentaarisuuteen. Motola on suorittanut MFA-tutkinnon Suomen Kuvataideakatemiassa ja opiskellut aiemmin valokuvausta ja elokuvaa Tel Avivissa. H\u00e4n ty\u00f6skentelee usein yhteisty\u00f6projekteissa ja on kolmen vuoden ajan ollut Activestills-valokuvaajien kollektiivin j\u00e4sen. H\u00e4nen t\u00f6it\u00e4\u00e4n on esitelty gallerioissa, museoissa, festivaaleilla ja erilaisissa tapahtumissa.<\/p>\n
