Hiiltyneet nimi viittaa niin konkreettiseen tuhoon kuin mielensis\u00e4iseen tuohtumukseen.<em>&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>\u201cTeoksissa l\u00e4hestyn aihetta kuolevien maaseutupaikkojen ja h\u00e4vi\u00e4vien rakennusten kautta, pohtien ajankuvaa, jossa tietyt alueet ja toiminnat eiv\u00e4t pysy mukana muuttuvassa yhteiskunnassa.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tyhjilleen j\u00e4\u00e4neet rakennukset ovat murroksen merkkej\u00e4, jotka seisovat historian ja tulevaisuuden v\u00e4lill\u00e4. Teokset heijastavat kokemuksia ja ilmi\u00f6it\u00e4, joissa kuuluvuuden tunne ymp\u00e4r\u00f6iv\u00e4\u00e4n maailmaa on horjunut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>N\u00e4yttelyss\u00e4 n\u00e4hd\u00e4\u00e4n ensi kertaa videoteos <em>Poltto<\/em>, joka dokumentoi Ypp\u00e4ril\u00e4n uran suurimman teoksen tuhoamisen h\u00e4nen lapsuudenmaisemissaan. Teoksen tuhoaminen toimi protestina vuonna 2024 alkaneille kulttuurileikkauksille. Video ilment\u00e4\u00e4 samalla hienovaraisesti pohjois-pohjanmaalaista mielenmaisemaa ja perhesuhteita. Yhdess\u00e4 tekeminen ja satunnaiset lauseet paljastavat siteit\u00e4 ja et\u00e4isyyksi\u00e4, joita ihmisill\u00e4 ja ymp\u00e4r\u00f6iv\u00e4ll\u00e4 maailmalla on kesken\u00e4\u00e4n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kokonaisuus peilaa laajempia yhteiskunnallisia ilmi\u00f6it\u00e4 maaseudun tyhjentymisest\u00e4 yhteyden kaipuuseen ja taiteen merkityksen pohdintaan. Vakavista aiheista huolimatta kokonaisuus pyrkii her\u00e4ttelem\u00e4\u00e4n lempeytt\u00e4 ja my\u00f6t\u00e4tuntoa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>Jenni Ypp\u00e4ril\u00e4<\/strong> on Helsingiss\u00e4 ty\u00f6skentelev\u00e4 kuvataiteilija, joka on tunnettu rakennuksia kuvaavista kolmiulotteisista maalauksista. H\u00e4n on vuodesta 2012 dokumentoinut havaintojaan rakennetusta ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6st\u00e4 Suomessa ja ulkomailla. Ypp\u00e4ril\u00e4n kiinnostus rakennuksiin on ensisijaisesti sosiologinen. Rakennukset ilment\u00e4v\u00e4t paikan menneisyytt\u00e4 ja nykyisyytt\u00e4, yhteiskunnan arvojen muutosta sek\u00e4 yksil\u00f6n sosiaalista ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6\u00e4. Ypp\u00e4ril\u00e4n teoksia on mm. The title refers to concrete destruction and mental resentment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>\u201cIn the works, I approach the subject through dying rural places and disappearing buildings, reflecting on a time where certain areas and activities do not keep up with a changing society.<\/em><\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The buildings that have been left empty are signs of a transition that stand between history and the future. The works reflect experiences and phenomena in which the sense of belonging to the surrounding world has been shaken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The exhibition presents for the first time the video work Poltto (Burning), which documents destruction of the largest artwork of Ypp\u00e4ril\u00e4\u2019s career in the landscapes of her childhood. The act of burning functioned as a protest against the cultural funding cuts that began in 2024. At the same time, the video subtly conveys the mental landscape of Northern Ostrobothnia and family relationships. Working together and fragments of spoken sentences reveal the bonds and distances that people and the surrounding world have with each other. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The exhibition reflects broader social phenomena, from rural depopulation to the longing for connection and reflection on the meaning of art. Despite the serious topics, the overall tone seeks to evoke gentleness and compassion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Jenni Ypp\u00e4ril\u00e4<\/strong> is a Helsinki-based visual artist best known for her three-dimensional paintings depicting buildings. Since 2012, she has documented her observations of the built environment in Finland and abroad. Ypp\u00e4ril\u00e4&#8217;s interest in buildings is primarily sociological. Buildings express the past and present of a place, the change in values of society and the social environment of the individual.
